The Coaching Agreement
The Nature of Coaching
Coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused relationship. It is not therapy, counseling, mental health treatment, or medical advice. If at any point I believe you would be better served by a licensed mental health or medical professional, I will say so directly and may refer you to appropriate resources.
You are the expert on your own life. My role is to ask better questions, reflect back what I'm hearing, and help you access clarity you already have. The work is yours. The results depend on what you bring to it.
Sessions
Sessions take place via video call unless we've arranged otherwise. We will schedule sessions in advance, and I ask that you come prepared and free from distractions. I will do the same.
Sessions begin and end on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late without notice, the session will be forfeited.
Sessions are recorded and transcribed using an AI note-taking tool. This allows me to stay fully present with you during our time together and to provide more detailed reflections, feedback, and action items afterward. Transcripts are kept confidential and used solely to support the quality of your coaching experience. If you have any concerns about recording, please let me know before our first session.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
I ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be forfeited, except in the case of genuine emergencies, which I will handle on a case-by-case basis.
Fees and Payment
Fees are as agreed upon in your package or session confirmation. Payment is due before your first session and, for packages, at the agreed-upon installment points. I accept credit card payment online or via Venmo.
My commitment is to show up fully prepared for every session and to bring my best to this work. If at any point something isn't feeling right, I want to know. We can adjust how we're working together, revisit what we're focusing on, or have a direct conversation about what would make this more valuable for you. What I ask in return is that you bring that same honesty to me rather than stepping away quietly. Fees are not refundable, but your experience in this relationship is always something we can work on together.
Between Sessions
I am available between sessions via email at sam@the-moreover.com. Reach out when something comes up, when you want to share a win, or when you're sitting with something you can't quite name. I'm not available for extended between-session coaching via email unless otherwise agreed to in your program package, but I am genuinely present for the relationship.
Confidentiality
Everything you share with me stays between us. I will not disclose anything you tell me to any third party without your written consent, except in the rare circumstances required by law, specifically where there is risk of serious harm to you or another person.
I practice in accordance with the ICF Code of Ethics, which governs how I handle client information, maintain professional boundaries, and show up in this relationship. This includes my use of any technology tools, such as the AI note-taker used in our sessions. You can read the full code at coachingfederation.org.
Our Shared Commitment
This relationship works when we both show up honestly. I commit to being direct with you, to asking the questions that matter, and to holding a high standard for what's possible. I ask the same from you. If something isn't working, say so. We can always course correct.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California.
